# AI interviews

> The three ways a candidate can do an AI interview, and what they're told about it beforehand.

An AI interview step runs in one of three modes: chat, voice, or video. Pick the mode when you build the step.

## The three modes

Chat is a written back-and-forth. Voice is a live spoken conversation. Video adds a recorded feed on top of the conversation. All three run the same underlying interview logic, just through a different medium.

## What the candidate is told

Before starting, the candidate sees a disclosure that the session is recorded, a transcript is kept, and an AI evaluation is produced for the recruiter, which the candidate does not see themselves. They have to acknowledge it before the interview can start.

## What you get afterward

A transcript and an AI evaluation land on the candidate's process step once the interview finishes, and their match score updates to take it into account.

<Info>
  Interview recordings, transcripts, and evaluations are deleted automatically six months after the application closes.
