This takes about half an hour, most of it waiting for a search to finish. You need a work email address. Personal addresses such as Gmail or Outlook.com can’t sign up.

1. Create your account and workspace

1

Go to app.staffer.com and click Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft, or click Create account to sign up with your email and a password.
2

Find your company

Paste your company’s website and click Lookup company. If Staffer recognizes it, click Use this. If not, click Setup manually.
3

Review your workspace

Check the name, industry, website, size, headquarters and description, and add a logo, cover photo and brand color if you have them. Candidates see these on your listings. Click Continue.
4

Let research run

Staffer reads public information about your company to build its company knowledge. It usually takes 30 to 60 seconds. You can click Skip and continue at any time: research carries on in the background.
5

Invite your team, or skip

Add teammates’ emails and roles and click Complete, or click Skip for now. You can invite people later from Settings.
Your organization starts with $100 of credits for AI work such as chat, searches and scoring. See How pricing works.

2. Create your first job

1

Describe the role

On the home page, write a short description of a job you’re hiring for in the box that says Describe the role you’re hiring for… and press Enter. Include where the person works, whether it’s full-time, and what separates a strong candidate from an average one.
2

Check the criteria

The job opens on its Brief tab. Read the Required and Preferred criteria carefully: every candidate is scored against them. Delete what doesn’t belong and add what’s missing. Changes save on their own.
See Write the brief for what makes a good criterion.

3. Find candidates

1

Ask for a search

In the chat on the left, write something like “search for candidates in Norway”. The agent turns the brief into several searches and runs them.
2

Wait for results

Open the Scouting tab to watch the results arrive. A search usually takes a few minutes. When it’s done, the agent posts a summary in the chat.
3

Shortlist and promote

Click the bookmark next to the people you want, so they appear in the Shortlist group. Then click Promote on the Shortlist group to move them into the job’s Candidates tab.
Promoting doesn’t contact anyone. See Shortlist and promote candidates.

4. Send the first message

1

Open a candidate

On the Candidates tab, click a candidate. Their Process tab opens with a suggested next action, usually Send intro outreach with a drafted message.
2

Add their email address

Staffer’s candidate database doesn’t include email addresses. Click Request contact info on the profile panel to look one up, or add it yourself with + Add next to Email.
3

Edit and send

Read the draft, change what you’d like, and click Send. The message includes a private link where the candidate can follow their application.

5. Optional next steps

  • Add a process: on the Process tab, add steps such as a review, a questionnaire or an AI interview, then click Save. See Build a hiring process.
  • Publish a listing: on the Listing tab, click Generate from brief, check the text, then click Publish. See Create and publish a listing.
  • Work through your candidates: the Applications page in the sidebar lists everyone across your jobs with their next action. See Next actions.
