What’s metered vs. fixed
Request contact info only charges when it actually looks something up. If there’s no LinkedIn URL on file for that candidate, nothing happens and nothing is charged. Clicking it again re-runs the lookup and charges again: there’s no discount or guard against asking twice for the same person.
Metered actions vary because the underlying work varies. A ten-minute AI interview costs more than a five-minute one. Scoring 200 candidates costs more than scoring 20. A search that runs several rounds because the first pass didn’t find enough strong matches costs more than one that stops early.
What doesn’t cost you anything
Candidate-facing chat is paid by Staffer, not your organization: chat on the apply page, in the candidate portal, and on share links never touches your credits, and it keeps working even when your organization is out of credits. AI interviews aren’t free: they use your credits, and they keep running even at zero balance. Everyday use of the product is free too: viewing jobs and candidates, editing a brief, building a process, adding a note, sending a message you wrote yourself. Only the AI work behind an action (drafting it, scoring it, generating it) is metered.Where credits went
Settings → Organization → Usage & credits has a spend chart with three series, and two of them are easy to mix up:- AI Agent: chat, search, scoring, and everything else the agent drafts or generates.
- Interviews: the notetaker bot that records and transcribes a scheduled human interview.
- AI Interviews: the AI-led interview feature itself, its conversation and its voice.
Why you won’t see a price before you click
The price depends on what the action takes to run: how long a search goes, how many candidates get scored, how long an interview conversation runs. Staffer charges for what happened, not an estimate made in advance. How pricing works
Prepaid credits, one pool per organization, and what’s free.
