There are two ways to end up in your company’s workspace instead of setting up a new one: someone invites you by email, or your company has auto-join turned on for your email domain and you land there the moment you sign up.

Accept an invite

Open the invite email

Click Accept invite in the email you received.

Sign in if asked

If you’re not already signed in, sign in with the email address the invite was sent to. See Sign in and create an account. If you end up on the home page instead of the invite, open the link from the email again.

Accept

Review the workspace name and the role you’ve been given, then click Accept invitation.
You land straight in the workspace home. There’s no separate confirmation screen after accepting. Invites expire 14 days after they’re sent, or after a resend. Ask a workspace owner or admin to send you a new one. See Invite your team.

Signing up when your company’s already on Staffer

If you sign up with a work email instead of using an invite link, what happens depends on how your company’s admin has set things up:
  • Auto-join with a default workspace: you skip setup entirely, including the “Find your company” screen, and land straight in that workspace with the role your admin picked. If they didn’t set a role, you land as a viewer, with read-only access.
  • Auto-join without a default workspace: you’re not automatically placed anywhere. You go through the normal setup screens (see Set up your workspace) and end up owning a new workspace inside your company’s organization. You won’t be an admin or owner of the organization itself this way, only of the workspace you just created. Organization ownership goes to the first person from your company who ever signed up.
  • No auto-join: signing up is refused. You’ll see a message naming your domain: “already has a Staffer organisation. Ask an admin there to invite you.” Ask a workspace owner or admin to invite you instead.

Common questions

You won’t, until you try to sign up. If it’s on with a default workspace, you’re placed there immediately. If it’s off, or on without a default workspace, you’ll see one of the outcomes above.
Ask an admin in that workspace to change your role, or to invite you into a different one. Auto-join uses the defaults your organization’s admin set. You don’t choose them when you sign up.
