The setup screens
1
Find your company
Type your company’s website (for example notion.com) and click Lookup company. Staffer checks it against its own company data and shows a preview card (logo, industry, headquarters, employee count) if it finds a match. Click Use this to continue with it, or click Setup manually to skip the lookup and fill everything in yourself on the next screen. This is a one-time search, not suggestions as you type, and a miss doesn’t block you either way.
2
Review your workspace
Edit the fields Staffer pre-filled, or start from blank if you set up manually: name, industry, website, employee count, headquarters, and a description. Add a logo, a cover photo, and a brand color. This is what candidates will see on your public listings later. Click Continue to save and move on.The name can be up to 80 characters and the description up to 2,000. Images must be PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 8 MB. Use a logo of at least 400×400 pixels and a cover of about 1600×500.
3
Wait for research
Staffer reads public pages on your company’s website and shows facts as it finds them. This usually takes 30 to 60 seconds. Click Skip and continue at any point, or wait for Continue once it finishes. After 90 seconds you get a Continue anyway button instead. Research keeps running in the background either way.
4
Invite your team
Add teammates by email, as Member or Admin, or click Skip for now and do it later. See Invite your team for what each role means and what happens after you send an invite.
What gets created
You become the owner of the new workspace. If you’re also the first person from your company to sign up to Staffer, Staffer creates an organization for your company and makes you its owner too. Your organization also gets $100 in signup credit. It’s granted once, the first time any workspace is created under that organization, and it’s shared across every workspace in it, not reissued per workspace. What Staffer researches, and where it goes
The research step pulls public information about your company: its homepage, news mentions, and pages like careers or about. It doesn’t ask you anything. While it runs, you can skip it or wait. The facts it finds land in Settings → Workspace → Knowledge, grouped by category, with a written summary. The agent uses the facts research is confident about straight away. Less certain ones wait under Pending review until an admin approves them. You can rerun research from the same page later if your company’s public information changes. See Company knowledge. If you signed up with a personal email
Staffer only sets up workspaces for work email addresses. If your account’s email is a personal provider (Gmail, Outlook.com, and similar), setup stops on a screen asking you to sign in with a work address instead, with a button labeled Sign out + delete account.Common questions
Can I skip setup entirely?
Can I skip setup entirely?
You can skip company lookup (Setup manually) and skip research (Skip and continue), but not the review-workspace screen. The invite screen has its own Skip for now. If your company’s email domain already has a Staffer organization with auto-join turned on, you skip all of this and land straight in that workspace.
I skipped research. Did I lose it?
I skipped research. Did I lose it?
No. It keeps running in the background and lands in Settings → Workspace → Knowledge whenever it finishes, whether you waited for it or not.
My company already has a Staffer workspace. Why am I seeing this instead of joining it?
My company already has a Staffer workspace. Why am I seeing this instead of joining it?
It depends on whether an admin at your company turned on auto-join for your email domain, and how it’s configured. See Join your company on Staffer for the different cases, including what to do if nobody’s set it up yet.
